The Ahmadiyya are a branch of Islam who believe that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad was the second coming of messiah that Islam – and other religions – preach of.

Asfand Suleman Ahmad has come to Cornwall to spread his message of peace as missionary to the local Ahmadiyya Muslim community.
Suleman Ahmad, a theology major who spent seven years studying in Mississauga, leads prayers at the mosque on Balmoral Avenue, but will also be reaching out to the broader community – “to win hearts,” he said.
These efforts begin with an open house Saturday, from 5–9 p.m., for those interested in learning more.
“We are here to spread the teachings of Islam and Ahmadiyya,” he said. “We are here to present a positive view of Islam.”
Islam receives a bad rap in the media, with connections to violence and bombings – including the Boston marathon bombings – bantered about.
But Suleman Ahmad wants to clarify that jihad doesn’t mean war – it just means “strife” for God.
