July Fourth Star Spangled Spectacular on Hollywood Beach was planned by the City of Hollywood Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts to host a celebration of the nation’s 237th birthday with fun for all. The streets around the venue were flocked with throngs of people who had gathered to enjoy this day of recreation. Parking was scarce and people walked long stretches to arrive at the venue. However, nothing dampened the festive spirit.
America is a melting pot of cultures and faiths who cherish the liberties and freedoms that this great nation offers. The tragedy of 9/11, almost a decade ago and the Boston bombings earlier this year have drawn attention towards American Muslims and allowed their fellow countrymen to question whether they really embody the spirit of American nationalism. For majority of Muslim Americans the answer is in the affirmative. Islam is a universal religion and its teachings transcend the bounds of time and age. There are clear injunctions in the Holy Quran that expound this topic:
